How to meet people at a music festival
Practical ways to start conversations at a festival, meet before a trip, and keep your plans and location private.

Festivals give people a few things in common, but starting a conversation can still feel awkward. You do not have to meet a whole group or plan every hour. A small opening is enough: ask what someone thought of a set, talk about food, or invite them to a public activity you would enjoy anyway.
Start with a specific, low-pressure question
Ask about the music or the moment you are both sharing: “Have you seen this artist before?” or “What are you looking forward to next?” Keep it easy to answer and easy to leave. If the other person does not seem interested, let the conversation end kindly.
You can also use an interest from your profile as a starting point. That does not mean Inder will always have an interest-matched group for you. Group availability depends on the people taking part.
Choose a plan that stands on its own
Suggest something short in a public area, such as watching a set, visiting a public activity, or getting food. Pick a plan you would still be comfortable doing on your own. Agree on a clear end point so nobody has to guess how long the meetup will last.
Use Here and Meet for different moments
Here is for your current destination. Confirm where you are to check which groups exist for that place. Meet is for a future trip; a plan there does not unlock Here groups at the festival. You may see no groups, so keep your own festival plan too.
Keep your boundaries yours
You can talk without sharing your accommodation, full itinerary, exact location, or phone number. Keep messages in the app until you are comfortable with another way to stay in touch. You can say no, change your mind, leave a group, or stop replying.
If you decide to meet someone, tell a trusted person your plan and choose a public place that works for you. Follow the event organizer’s own safety and emergency guidance. If an interaction feels wrong, leave and use Inder’s safety tools to block or report.
Make a small plan before you arrive
- Choose one set, activity, or meal you would enjoy even by yourself.
- Decide what personal information you want to keep private.
- Pick a public meeting point and a time to check in with someone you trust.
- Keep the organizer’s event information handy for venue questions or urgent help.
